Dan Stevens has promised Downton Abbey has a very big Christmas tree, to make the stately home feel festive.
The hit ITV costume drama has just finished filming its Christmas special on location at Highclere Castle in Berkshire.
Dan, who plays Downton heir Matthew Crawley, said: "We finished filming a couple of weeks ago. Downton has a very big Christmas tree, I can tell you that much.
"I can't tell you much else but it's a bit Christmassy."
He joked: "I don't wear a Santa outfit. I was a bit disappointed when I found that out."
At the end of the second series Matthew's fiancee Lavinia Swire died of Spanish flu, leaving him free to admit his feelings for cousin Mary Crawley.
Dan hinted Matthew and Mary may become closer in the Christmas special.
He said: "He might be moving on a little bit. But there's a lot of things up in the air that need to be resolved.
